What is the Character Building and Life Skills Program?

In addition to our comprehensive martial arts programs, the Livermore Martial Arts Academy specializes in character building and life skills for children. Our goal is to teach children character along with self defense. Each class includes “mat chats” which focus on character traits and life skills (such as focus, discipline and confidence) and may include activities and assignments to thoroughly ingrain these important principles in our students. It is only with the proper character which involves such tenets as discipline, respect and humility, can our children be true martial artists.

What Does Child Safety Education Mean?

Safety tips, such as defining “inappropriate behavior,” (the calling card of the predator), kidnap evasion, abuse prevention and other child safety-oriented tips are discussed during the week.

Our school is associated with the national “Kid Safe Network” program. The Kid-Safe Network is a proactive, non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, molestation and abduction of our children. It is a national educational system that teaches and informs children and parents about “Danger Awareness”. The Kid-Safe Network’s national system expeditiously disseminates information about abducted or lost children.

ONE MERIT BADGES

ONE MERIT BADGES is an innovative “Learn to Earn” system of life skills instruction for all of our school age students. One Merit Badges teaches life skills such as “Focus,” “Teamwork” and “Confidence” in an age specific and fun manner.

One Merit Badges is much more than badges. It motivates your child with the incentive of earning their badges. It will have them looking forward to each and every class.

One Merit Badges is also an excellent parenting tool. We provide you with handouts for each badge to help you implement child developmental skills such as “Family” and “Respect” at home. It provides a means to reinforce the life skills we teach at our school.
